About the Role
We are seeking
a hands-on Finance Lead to independently manage the Company's routine accounting, tax compliance, payroll, project costing, and local finance administration.;The Finance Lead will work closely with the Kigali team and HQ Finance & Operations functions to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and compliance with applicable Rwanda requirements.;The successful candidate must be able to independently perform core finance activities and possess a sound academic and professional understanding of more complex financial and tax concepts.

- Independently manage full-cycle accounting, including:
- Journal entries.
- Accounts payable and receivable.
- Accruals and bank reconciliations.
- Fixed asset records and depreciation.
- Manage month-end closing and preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare schedules and information for management, audit, and statutory purposes.
- Independently manage routine Rwanda finance and compliance matters, including:
- VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, and other applicable statutory obligations.
- Invoice and supporting document compliance.
- Payroll records, statutory deductions, and employer contributions.
- Tax filing deadlines, supporting documentation, and statutory records.
- Coordinate with the Rwanda Revenue Authority, auditors, and external tax advisors.
- Review the accounting and basic tax treatment of revenue and expense transactions and identify potential tax benefits or exposures.
- Maintain project and cost center records.
- Track and allocate direct and indirect costs.
- Prepare project costing, profitability analysis, and budget-versus-actual reporting.
- Support cash-flow forecasting and management reporting.
- Identify financial control or compliance issues and report them to management or relevant HQ functions.
- Prepare payment documentation and maintain finance records in accordance with company policies.
- Support the implementation of finance SOPs and internal controls.
- Act as the primary local finance contact for banks, auditors, accounting firms, and tax advisors.
- Coordinate with external advisors on tax, accounting, and regulatory matters and follow up on agreed actions.
- Prepare information and supporting documents requested by HQ or external advisors.
Qualifications & Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Demonstrated experience in full-cycle accounting, month-end closing, and financial reporting.
- Practical experience with Rwanda tax compliance, payroll, and statutory reporting.
- Experience in project costing, cost allocation, or profitability analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting software or ERP systems and Microsoft 365, particularly Excel.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Ability to work independently and manage routine finance operations in a start-up environment.
- Partial completion of ACCA, CPA, or another recognized professional accounting qualification is an advantage.
- Experience in IT, technology, outsourcing, or professional services is an advantage
